Event Details
Event Date: 8-10 April 2026
Location: University of Liverpool, Liverpool, UK.
Overview
The UK Association for Computational Mechanics (ACM) was founded in 1992 and its principal activity involves the organisation of an annual two day conference on computational mechanics, developments and research trends. The purpose of this conference is to provide a forum for reviewing the computational mechanics activities in any area of computational mechanics – solid and structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, gas, bioengineering, geomechanics, electromagnetics, multi-physics, mesh generation, etc with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary aspects to enable cross-fertilization to take place between different disciplines.
In 2026 the annual conference will take place in Liverpool from April 8-10, offering a forum for academics and researchers to present their research on developments in Computational Mechanics. It is also an ideal opportunity for the fostering of ideas and the establishing of new collaborative research links, helping to build strong research networks within the UK and at an international level.
CCC-ParaSolS mini-symposium
As part of the 2026 event CCC-ParaSolS will be adding DEM to the list of computational activities by organising a mini-symposium Discrete Element Method Simulations: Research Advances and the CCC-Parasols Community.
Abstract Submission is open and you can submit an abstract until the end of December. If you want to take part in the CCC-ParaSolS session, then you should choose the S7 session as the appropriate track. We hope that you can join us!
Registration is open and the early-bird rates apply until the end of January.
Early-Career Researcher Support
In order to support Early-Career Researchers, we will be reserving one of the mini-symposium presentation slots and will also be offering financial support (travel, accommodation, conference fee) for this researcher.
For the purpose of this event, we are defining “Early-Career Researcher” as anyone within seven years of their (first) undergraduate degree working in either academia or industry.
We may request proof of this seven year cut-off.
Selection Process
In order to select this person, we are requesting that all interested candidates send us a short video of 3 minutes or less presenting an overview of your research. The video (and conference presentation, if selected) must be DEM-focused. You can include slides if you wish, but please do not use any AI-generated or edited video.
Video resolution is not important but audio should be clear. You can record via your favourite presentation suite, video conferencing tool, etc.
The winning video will be chosen by independent members of the CCC-ParaSolS Management Committee, who are not involved in the research of any of the video submitters. The evaluation criteria will be scientific quality, research novelty, and engagingness of presentation. The videos will only be shared with members of the Management Committee and will not be disseminated beyond this.
Submission
Please send a link to the video to the CCC-ParaSolS mailbox: parasols@ed.ac.uk. The deadline for submission is December 5th and all submitters will be informed of a decision no later than December 12th.
This competition is only available to CCC-ParaSolS community members.
