Event Summary

We would like to thank everyone who took part in Network Event 3 and made it a success. With more than 30 people attending in Manchester and several more online, this was a great turnout, despite the best efforts of the weather. Thanks to all those who joined us, either in person or online.

Special thanks go to our speakers Carsten Schilde (TU Braunschweig), Kit Windows-Yule (University of Birmingham), Stefan Pantaleev (Altair EDEM) and Krishna Kumar (University of Texas at Austin), who delivered excellent talks about what is happening with AI/ML in the world of particulate solids simulations.

This event also included a special treat - a night at the museum, where attendees were given a demonstration of the Manchester Small-Scale Experimental Machine or ‘Baby’ as it is also known. This was the first computer to store and run a program from memory, with the original being created in 1948.

AI/ML training event resources now available

Training on day two was delivered by Andrei Leonard Nicusan (EvoPhase) and Deepak Tunuguntla (Saxion University of Applied Sciences).

The training material from the event is now online at the Tutorials Section of the website. On these pages you can access the handouts/slides and download relevant supporting material such as python notebooks.

We hope you find these resources useful!
